Always a legend, but still an all-star!

June 2 will be forever instilled in baseball history as the day Ken Griffey Jr. joined Major League Baseball and retired from it. Sports pages and TV analysts scrabbled to cover Griffey's announcement yesterday, including MLB Network and ESPN. For any fan of the game (Mariners, Reds, the 90s and baseball of today) this is a mighty loss and he will greatly be missed. No matter Griffey’s departure from the field or at plate this should not stop us from giving him a fitting end to an astonishing career, this of course being a spot on the American League roster for the 2010 MLB All-Star Game.

Baseball fans have previously voted retired players into the Midsummer Classic. For instance, Mike Schmidt was voted into the 1989 MLB All-Star Game after he retired on May 29 of that season. Schmidt had not been in the MLB All-Star Game the previous season and had sub-par numbers for the current season (.203 AVG, .297 OBP, 19 R, 28 RBI).

Please continue to support this campaign and spread the word on voting for Junior! We all know Griffey deserves one last hooray this year, let's give it to him at the 2010 MLB All-Star Game.

Vote for Junior
