In the newest 2010 MLB All-Star Game voting update, Griffey has maintained his third place standings among American League designated hitters. As he maintains his third place position, the fans votes have truly illustrated their appreciation and their desire for him to yet again be "star" in Anaheim, CA.
Keep it up and Junior will be sure to pass hometown favorite and under performing, Hideki Matsui of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the standings. For the traditionalist and stats lovers that may have or are voting for Vladimir Guerrero of the Texas Rangers, stop! Just think how much more it would mean to Ken Griffey Jr. in his retirement year and what more it would mean to the game and baseball history if he was voted into the 2010 MLB All-Star Game!
A total of seventeen days remain for fan voting for the ASG, plenty of time to make up ground and grab some headlines for Junior and a spot for him in the Midsummer Classic.
Word of mouth and additional media coverage are what can propel is campaign and Junior into a ASG roster spot for the American League. So tell your family, friends (enemies too), sports fans, co-workers, fellow bystanders, the guy/girl next to you in the grocery store line and anyone else who can do the right thing to vote for Junior in the 2010 MLB All-Star Game balloting!
Even though many believe baseball is a individual sport, with pitcher vs. batter match-ups, there is a need for "team effort" to succeed in winning ballgames and championships. Few players can honestly consider themselves as a team player and can bind a team together, not only with their spectacle play on the field but also with their presence and voice in the clubhouse. Junior could do this, it went unnoticed by players and others around baseball. Members of the Seattle Mariners and other MLB teams knew Griffey was the best you could ask for in a teammate.
Every moment with him is a treasure. It will keep deep within my heart. I’ve played 19 years in professional baseball and I can say that he was my best teammate and my best friend as well.

WAR can only be completely be calculated from 1974-present due to the need for play-by-play scoring
Along with his remarkable "team-player" like statistics, Griffey had the personality and approach to the game that allowed him to provide essential intangibles to all his teams. Please feel free to view previous post to see his contributions to his all-star teams. Keep up the voting for Junior to ensure that he gets the chance to help the 2010 American League All-Star Team and its members with all-star play and guidance.
Unfortunately in the most recent update, Vladimir Guerrero of the Texas Rangers has taken a substantial lead in the voting standings for AL designated hitter. Griffey has maintained his 3rd place position among AL designated hitters.
However, with continual support for this campaign and discussion by others about this campaign's efforts, the "Vote for Junior" movement will for sure succeed! Just remember to vote often (25 times per email address), only vote for Junior for AL designated hitter and spread the word!
Don't give up hope, we can do this. Keep up the support and continue to vote for Junior, because he deservesthis! If your not convinced look at some reasons to vote for Junior.
When Junior participates in the "game of stars" he tends to shine bright! He is a star among stars and his numbers show it. In the ASG Junior has come through in the clutch at the plate and has flashed his leather in the outfield. His past performances in the ASG give another reason to vote him as American League DH for the 2010 MLB All-Star Game.
His .440 clip at the plate goes unmatched in the MLB All-Star Game other than Charlie Gehringer's .500, done during the The Live-Ball Era (1920-1941). It is quite remarkable that in a game that highlights the best, Griffey has been able to preform at such a superior level. Junior has been able to distinguish the flame on Dan Haren's heater and cutting the strings on Tom Glavine's infamous breaking ball in the big game. He has been able to hit everywhere in the lineup as he has batted anywhere from 3rd to 5th to 7th to PH in the batting order. His past performances at the plate truly signify his belonging and comfort level in the Midsummer Classic.

It is apparent that Ken Griffey Jr. can not only handle himself in the MLB All-Star Game, but contribute and do it with the best to ever play in the game. Please continue to vote for Junior and vote the "true" all-star back into the game of all-stars.
June 2 will be forever instilled in baseball history as the day Ken Griffey Jr. joined Major League Baseball and retired from it. Sports pages and TV analysts scrabbled to cover Griffey's announcement yesterday, including MLB Network and ESPN. For any fan of the game (Mariners, Reds, the 90s and baseball of today) this is a mighty loss and he will greatly be missed. No matter Griffey’s departure from the field or at plate this should not stop us from giving him a fitting end to an astonishing career, this of course being a spot on the American League roster for the 2010 MLB All-Star Game.
Baseball fans have previously voted retired players into the Midsummer Classic. For instance, Mike Schmidt was voted into the 1989 MLB All-Star Game after he retired on May 29 of that season. Schmidt had not been in the MLB All-Star Game the previous season and had sub-par numbers for the current season (.203 AVG, .297 OBP, 19 R, 28 RBI).
Please continue to support this campaign and spread the word on voting for Junior! We all know Griffey deserves one last hooray this year, let's give it to him at the 2010 MLB All-Star Game.
So, a bit of tough news today. The second voting update was released and, while Griffey is still in third place for designated hitters, Vladimir Guerrero has increased his lead over Junior (and Hideki Matsui). So that's the bad news. The good news is that Griffey is still in third and doesn't appear to be losing his hold of the position anytime soon. 110,000 new votes this week--not too bad!
So, the task at hand is still a simple one. First, continue voting with as many email addresses as you can manage. Second, publicize the campaign! Our votes alone will not get him voted in--we need as many voters as we can get.
